Softdial Scripter™ - Step Library

Play File

Used to play a sound file that has a fully qualified file name.

The difference between this step and the Play Recording step is that the sound file to be played does not have to be uploaded via the Softdial Repository™ Sounds tab. Otherwise these steps are identical.


1. Sound File Name (Mandatory) The fully-qualified name of a sound file
2. Playback Timeout (Optional) The number of seconds after which the playback is timed out. Defaults to 60 seconds

1. Fail The recording could not be played. This may be due to a missing recording, an error in the path or a telephony error
2. Success The recording was successfully played
3. Call Ended The call was dropped before the playback could be completed
